Powdered Peanut Butter?
I have always been willing to try eating random weird things and I’ve decided this is a random weird thing to eat. I’ve been trying to eat a little better over the last two weeks as I’ve started on P90X. But in all honesty it probably hasn’t been going that well. In general I’d much rather workout more than try to eat less. Working out is what I do so that I *can* eat a lot and drink wine.
So when MizFit told me to check into PB2, I was more like PB2, wtf? Knowing she is the fount of nutritional wisdom, a quick search of here site revealed this post. So PB2 is powered peanut butter where they using some kind of hocus-pocus:
Through a unique process that does not involve the use of any chemicals nor does it alter nature’s balance in peanuts, over 85% of the fat is removed from the peanuts. Essentially, the oil is squeezed out of roasted peanuts and what remains is our famous powdered peanut butter.
So you are left with healthy peanut butter powder. Interesting. Since I am now doing things I haven’t done since high school (watching my diet somewhat, and I took protein powder for the first time in over 15 years yesterday) I decided to order some PB2. I now have 3 jars of PB2 and 1 jar of Chocolate PB2 somewhere between the factory and my house. Come on UPS Ground.
Secretly I think MizFit knows that if I don’t like it (which is doubtful, how could you not like peanut butter or chocalate peanut butter?), that I’ll just give the extra to her. Which I would, but since I am sure I’ll like it, I probably won’t.
I’m not sure I totally trust their nutrtional guidelines, as I found both of these images on their site:

I’m holding out hope for the 85% less fat label.
I’ll let you know how it tastes.

i love PB2, both regular and chocolate. it’s great for smoothies and baking, and it’s nice to make it a little thinner than regular PB for easier spreadabillity.
Thank you for trying PB2 and giving it a favorable review! I think I can clear up any questions on the fat content of this product.
The original PB2 formula did have 75% fewer fat calories than traditional peanut butter - as the original label reflects. The new label refects the new formula which does indeed have 85% fewer fat calories than traditional peanut butter. The fat content, along with the other nutritionals, are 100% accurate and certified! Plus, PB2 and Chocolate PB2 are salmonella free!
Bell Plantation must have been sold.
First of all, I loved PB2 and Chocolate PB2 and bought a lot of it last summer. It ran out and I ordered more in March2010.
After TWO MONTHS, it finally came the other day (my credit card was charged immediately, of course).
The formula has changed and it is not nearly as good as before. Packaging and formula both different. Sodium is up 22% from old formula. Sugar and fat are reduced, but all three impact the flavor in a negative way and it is still the same Weight Watcher point value so why change it?
I assume it is because somebody is making more money and dumping in salt is more profitable than using sugar and fat.
I cannot recommend the new product. And the customer service is abysmal. Takes days to get an auto-reply to any email sent to them.
On a scale of one to 10? Old PB2 got a 10 and new PB2 gets something in the minus category.
Don’t buy it.
