I love me some cold weather…

The weather has finally turned cold here is Austin and running has thus gotten a lot easier. This week has been a recovery week for me after the Rock N Roll San Antonio Marathon on Sunday.

When I am in town, I usually walk Christopher to school and then take a 4 mile run around the neighborhood and head to work. Each day this week I’ve gotten slightly faster, with Monday obviously being the hardest as my legs were complaining from the marathon.

So I started the week with very tight calves and hamstrings and it took 1-2 miles to loosen up a little. Then each day got progressively easier as my legs bounced back into shape. I had a massage yesterday to get the remaining kinks out and today was the fastest of the week. My week has gone like this so far:

Monday: 4 @ 7:52/M
Tuesday: 4 @ 7:39/M
Wednesday: 4 @ 7:26/M
Thursday: 4 @ 7:25/M
Friday: 4 @ 7:12/M

I’ll probably run an easy 10 miles tomorrow for my birthday run and then take Sunday off. I’ve got two more weeks after that until the Sunmart 50k, so three weeks recovery and I should be good to go and try to chase down another horse trophy.

  1. Wow, that’s awesome speed so soon after the marathon.

  2. Cool weather helps make the easy runs a little faster more than anything else. In the summers you can’t crank it up as often.
