Feeling beat down…

The last few weeks have taken a toll on me physically.  Over the course of the previous 43 days I’ve run 4 marathons, bringing my total for the year to 17 and up to 81 overall.  I’ve had some good runs setting a PR while going under 3:00 for the first time in February, and picking up seven more Boston Marathon qualifying times.  Overall I am happy with the marathons I’ve been knocking out, but it’s been since January and February since I felt like I really nailed one.  St. George would have been such a race if I could have avoiding dropping 5 minutes in porta-potties, but that’s a story for another day.

The last couple days I have just felt really sluggish.  I did four miles this morning at around 8:00/M pace.  I just didn’t have any get-up-and-go in my legs, maybe my get-up-and-go had gotten-up-and-left.  I’m going to take it easy the rest of this week and knock out a few more easy runs and then maybe a 10-miler on the weekend.  Then follow it up with another easy week.

This will hopefully allow me to bounce back enough for the Rock and Roll San Antonio marathon next Sunday.  Maybe I just need more sleep.

Anyone else going to be in San Antonio?

  1. I know the feeling. Going for my 6th in 6 weeks last weekend, I dropped about 20 minutes off of my previous two weeks. I don’t run anywhere near the Boston Qualifying times, but 20 minutes is still a big chunk for me.

I’m excited about this weekend at Chickamauga, but I don’t think I’ll be breaking 4 hours again until Spring.

I hope you get your mojo back soon.
