Humpy’s is tomorrow

Tomorrow will be state #43 in the quest for 50. Today was a really lazy day, recovering from our harrowing experience on the glacier yesterday (more on that later). We finally managed to leave the hotel and head out to packet pickup and then we headed to lunch at the title sponsor, Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse.
Shelley had a glass of wine and Christopher and I both had a beer.

Okay, no need to send CPS after us, Christopher really didn’t have a beer. But it does look like he is checking for the cops off to the side before consuming his brew.
Shelley and I were both really achy this morning after the battle on the glacier and overall crapiness quality of our bed. Christopher was not achy, but gamely found other things to complain about.
After leaving Humpy’s we headed to the Alaska Mint. We were going to buy Christopher a coin, but after he picked out a nice $350 set, we went instead over to the bargain bin and got him a nice coin with a bear on it, for $5 far less than $350.
We headed to the hotel for some reading and a minor nap, then ventured back out to grab some Chinese food for dinner. It was quite possibly the worst Chinese food place we’ve been to in years. But they did have soft serve ice cream, and that made up for it.
To help wind down the night we watched the first half of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Christopher has been really into the Indiana Jones movies, as well as the Lego Indiana Jones game for the Nintendo DS.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that they televised the Women’s Olympic Marathon in full, and we were able to see Romania’s Constantina Tomescu Dita pull away with 10 miles to go and cruise to victory. We were sad to see Deena Kastor drop out, but I was happy to see Paula Radcliff stay in even though she was clearly hurting. Hopefully she didn’t reinjure her leg.
Well, of to bed shortly and then get ready to run Humpy’s. I’m feeling pretty beat up, and so will be going for about a 3:20. I’d like to go Top 10 this weekend if everything cooperates, the weather looks like it will be good, nice and cool, but possibly a little rainy.
See you tomorrow.
