Humpy’s Big Wild Marathon

We arrived in Anchorage Alaska last night after a long day of traveling. We left the house about 11am Austin time and headed to the airport. After a quick flight to DFW we stopped at Bennigans for some crappy bar food and then boarded the flight to Alaska. The flight took close to 7 hours and Christopher did great. This was by far his longest flight and we both pleased with how he acted.

The forecast calls for rain almost every day we are here, which is not awesome.  Today we will be driving the Glenn highway on a quest to see some Mooses (Meese?) and maybe some bears.

I was pretty stiff after yesterday so I took and easy 2 mile jog this morning to loosen up, I’ll be hitting the hot tub tonight after all day or driving.

Tomorrow we hit the Humpy’s Bar and Grill for the pre-race festivities and pasta feed. Monday will be our big day taking the train to Whittier to see some glaciers. I can’t wait.

We are in Alaska through Wednesday so I am not sure how often I’ll update, but the marathon in on Sunday morning at 9am.

  1. Good luck at your race! I was in Anchorage a few years back to run the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon. There are moose actually right in Anchorage along this section of bike path called “Moose Alley.” I saw one at about mile 23 of the marathon. It must be used to seeing people as it just continued to eat some leaves from a tree.

  2. Love that name!

  3. I didn’t get to see any Mooses (Meese?) during the race, but it sure was a pretty course.
