Lameness 101

Have you ever wondered how to elevate your game in Lameness? Here is lesson one in “How to be a wanker”. First buy your Boston Marathon medal from eBay. Yes, that’s right, just go ahead and buy it from eBay. In case you were going to do that, you’re a little late as the auction has closed.

How much would it cost to pretend to be Rosie Ruiz? A mere $102.50 and you to can be a Boston poser. I’m not really sure why you would buy a Boston Marathon medal, or any marathon medal for that matter. Do you really run for the medals? Maybe a little, but I can see no value in having a medal you didn’t earn. Will you proudly display it to your non-running friends? Will they be impressed? I somewhat doubt it. Most non-runners think New York is the marathon you have to qualify for and your running friends will know you didn’t earn the medal.

If you did finish it and then lost your medal, you probably could have gotten a replacement from the BAA for less than 100 bones.

Maybe I just don’t get it. I normally don’t wear my medals. After the race is over it goes into my suitcase for the trip home where it joins many friends in a box under my bed. Maybe I am not a medal guy and just don’t understand, but I guess I do like getting the medals, and I have kept them all, but I think it will be more for when I get much older and lose my memory and can look back and say “ohhh yeah, I did run that race”.

So maybe that was our good friend the Boston impersonator is doing to, keep thinking something long enough and maybe you’ll believe it.
