Biketastic
I have been traveling internationally since last Friday and so I am quite happy to be home. This week has been Tres Low Mileage for me. Due to work commitments up until this morning I had only run 2.5 miles this week. Which is not awesome.
After walking Christopher to school I put in my usual 4 mile route, but after not running this week I seemed to pretty fresh. I finished the 4 miles with a 7:12/M pace and never really felt strained.
As the Ironman is only 72 days away I thought I’d jump on the bike. I did a fairly easy 18 miles (I know, I know, I should be doing 50-60 miles rides at least by this point. But I’m not, I’m still at 18 so sue me). My last ride was on March 30th and it was slightly stressful. But today the wind wasn’t too bad and I was able to get up to 35mph going down some hills. I’ve included the speed/elevation chart of this morning’s ride:

My average speed was 17.7 mph with a peak of 36.1. There were 900 feet of climbing and 1058 feet of descending. So my average mph has increased by 1.5, but I think that has way more to do with the weather than with me getting in better shape. So there you have it: Ironman creeps ever closer, and I’m not ready yet. Next week I plan on getting into the pool for the first time and seeing how
