6 word memoir

So our good friend MizFit has tagged me with writing a 6 word memoir. This seems like it should be easy as it’s only 6 words, but it is surprisingly difficult. I was taking too long to try and answer the challenge, so my wife decided to help me out. Here are a few of her suggestions:

Running not to escape but thrive.
Or
Hard work at office, track, pays.
Or
So grateful for athletic supporter wife.
Or
Because running it makes it mine.
Or
Running so I can eat candy.
Or
Finish line? Nah. It’s the journey.
Or
World traveling runner married perfect woman. :)

All of which are pretty accurate, especially the last one, and the one about candy.

I also came up with:

I Eat to run to eat.
Wife, Son, Good Run, What Fun
Lots of Running makes me tolerable
I am running down a dream
Running is core to my being

But in the end I think Shelley nailed it with: Running not to escape but thrive.

I really see running as a way to thrive. It helps keep my stress level low which makes me more fun to be around. It keeps me in shape so that I can continue to be around for my wife and son as we all get older. I look forward to playing with my grandkids and spoiling them at least as much as my parents spoil Christopher.

Running really has become one of the core pieces of my being. When people think of me I hope they think good friend, good husband, good father, but most likely they think: runner.

I am not 100% sure I can use the memoir that Shelley came up with per the rules of this contest, but I’ll say she ghost wrote it for me since she knows me so well.

To find out more about said contest click over to MizFit’s blog here. I still have to figure out who else to hit with this, but the rules are as follows:

If you’re so inclined please to:

1. Write your own six word memoir
2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you want
3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post
4. Tag at least five more blogs with links.
