Christopher is my co-pilot

If you’ve been following along you now that I have finally really gotten serious just started bike training for Ironman Idaho.
This Saturday was a boys day, as Shelley was running a Debate tournament and left us all alone. We had a busy, busy day, that started off with Christopher’s first flag football game. The mighty mighty Vikings played a great game and used one long pass, 3 end-around runs combined with a nice defensive stand to send the Colts to a resounding defeat 26-12. Christopher summed up the victory by saying:
We probably won because we have cheerleaders and the Colons didn’t.
As much as I want to think he is begining his trash-talk phase by calling the other team the Colons, I think he just can’t remember that they are the Colts. But I agree wholeheartedly with his reason for victory. I think it goes without saying having Cheerleaders is always better than not having Cheerleaders. You just have to remember that we *are* in Texas, and thus Cheerleaders for 5-6 year old flag football.
After football we headed to Barnes and Noble to pick up the latest Sideways Story book for Christopher and some ice cream for me Christopher at Marble Slab.
Now we needed to exercise, so we loaded Christopher up in the jogging stroller (the stroller is rated for about 90 pounds, so I think I’ll still be pushing him around the neighborhood well into Jr. High.). We logged 4.5 miles at 8:07/M pace and the humidity was really beginning to get to me (which doesn’t bode well at all for my summer marathon season).
Once we finished Christopher wanted to ride his bike, which I always encourage. After a while he got tired and decided it would be better if *we* rode the Co-Pilot. (And of course, by “we” he typically means that he rides on the back and I do all the pedaling). Since I am very rapidly running out of time for the Ironman I decided this would be a great idea and so we set off. After 4 miles he decided that he was tired of riding the bike. He was tired? So after 4 miles we did end the bike riding. We managed a blistering 11.4 mph, which was actually a little faster than I thought we’d be going. So with the 10 miles I rode on Thursday, I am now up to 14 miles. The 112 for the Ironman should be a piece of cake at this point. Bring it on Coeur d’Alene!
